Supervises the environmental services activities of a medical center and any attached or detached medical office buildings around the clock, seven days a week (s). the creation and implementation of effective cleaning techniques, the management of environmental services staff, the administration of training programs, client interactions, and budget management. ensures adherence to rules and standards.

Essential Duties:

• oversees the department's daily activities.
• controls staff members' day-to-day activities while giving them the necessary direction and encouragement to uphold high-performance standards.
• chooses, plans, and keeps an eye on any necessary contractual services.
• supervises groundskeeping and environmental services staff to ensure that work methods, quality assurance standards, department regulations, and job requirements are followed.
• interviewing, choosing, and supervising employee training and development in accordance with EVS rules and procedures.
• oversees the annual performance evaluation process.
• creates, starts, and keeps up the EVS department's policies and procedures in relation to OSHA, DHS, TJC, NFPA, OSHPD, and other regulating agencies' rules and regulations.
• records employee training to guarantee that the program is fully adhered to.
• Participates in peer groups, safety, disaster, infection control, interior design, and recycling committees at the medical center, service area, and regional levels to coordinate departmental operations with those of other departments.
• adheres to National Facilities and Purchasing requirements while evaluating new items.
• handles resources oversee the performance and take involved in the creation of the department's operational budget to ensure that financial goals are met.
  identifies and applies best practices to inspire fresh, creative concepts for cost- and service-cutting improvements.

 

• Minimum three (3) years of previous supervisory experience.

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.

Additional Requirements:

• prior work history in the medical field
• Interviewing, planning, organizing, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication are necessary management/supervisory abilities.
• proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, among other Windows-based office programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a supervisor in a union setting is preferred.
• Preferable is previous experience working in a labor-management partnership.
• Certification from the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) or the American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) is preferred.
• Preference will be given to CHESP-certified healthcare environmental services professionals.
• Preferable is familiarity with medical and hazardous waste regulations, healthcare facilities, and their particular cleaning needs.
• Preferable knowledge of hospital infection control procedures, sanitation standards, and cleaning techniques.
