About WSU Accommodation 2023-2024
Walter Sisulu University (WSU) provides various accommodation options for its students to ensure they have a comfortable living and learning environment. These options include on-campus residences, self-catering units, flats, private rentals, and student housing complexes. WSU strives to create an inclusive environment for students with diverse needs and ensures that students with disabilities are also catered for. In this article, we will discuss the accommodation options available at WSU in more detail, including the application process, benefits, and drawbacks of each option.
Walter Sisulu University (WSU) provides various accommodation options for its students. These include:
- Residences: WSU has a number of on-campus residences that are available for students. The residences offer single and shared rooms and have communal facilities such as kitchens, lounges, and laundry facilities.
- Self-catering units: The university also has self-catering units that are available for students who prefer to cook for themselves. These units are fully furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities.
- Flats: WSU also offers flats for students who prefer to live in independent accommodation. These flats are usually located off-campus and are fully furnished.
- Private rentals: Students can also rent private accommodation off-campus. The university provides a list of accredited private rentals that meet certain safety and quality standards.
- Student housing complexes: There are also student housing complexes near the university that offer accommodation to WSU students. These complexes are usually managed by private companies and offer a range of accommodation options.
Due to the very high demand for student accommodation in residences, we are unable to offer all applicants accommodation in the residences.
It is expected of residence students to use more than just a class/lecture room: numerous activities are available for our residence students to participate in.
Our philosophy as the Student Residence Department is to “contribute to the holistic development of a student.
Crime is very high in our society and the University is doing its best to protect residence students.
Supplementary and aegrotat exams will not be considered for room allocations.
A student must be registered for a minimum of three courses.
Residence allocation is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
