Job Summary:
On-call nursing care is given to a specified group of patients while abiding by the nursing code of ethics, the ambulatory nursing care standards, and the rules of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington. Organize and facilitate the patient's access to healthcare services in other areas of the healthcare delivery system. Together with the healthcare team, provide and organize nursing care for the patient. The Registered Nurse oversees and participates in patient assessment, care plan development, and implementation as a crucial part of the health care team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing assessment of the nursing care requirements for a specified set of patients using the nursing process. describes this examination using a nursing diagnosis. creates a written plan of care for the patient's needs. develops health care objectives that are a part of the patient's unique treatment plan with the help of the patient, their family, and other important people. prioritizes patient care based on the most important needs of the patient and the resources that are available. safely and expertly delivers nursing interventions. Before any interventions, information is given to the patient's family or other important people. offers patients, their family members, and other important people phone consultations. provides a constant assessment of the patient's reaction to the care. anticipates and acknowledges alterations in the patient's condition and nursing care needs. collaborating with the patient to make changes to the customized care plan.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the physiologic and psychological effects of normal aging by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care to meet the needs of those populations served. Demonstrates effective communication skills with those specific age populations served. Identifies own learning needs and participates in educational programs related to those age-specific patient populations served (Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Geriatric). Collaborates, communicates, and coordinates with other healthcare team members in planning and implementing care. Assesses the needs of designated patients requiring hospitalization; initiates nursing admission database and discharge planning in collaboration with inpatient staff and physicians. Cooperates and communicates effectively with other team members in order to accomplish the workload.
  • In every nurse-patient interaction, the nurse conveys that they are aware of the patient's psychological, cultural, and emotional requirements. Introduces patients, their families, and other important people to the role of the professional nurse and other members of the healthcare team, the nursing services offered, and the methods for accessing those services. orients people to their obligations under the Consumer Bill of Rights. as part of the nursing assessment, determine the patient's educational needs. conceives of an educational element for each nursing care plan. teaches and counsels patients in accordance with their educational needs and those of their families, close relationships, and the medical treatment plan. helps patients follow their treatment plans and prescriptions. Science and behavioral knowledge are the foundation of education.
  • Evaluates the patient's lifestyle risk factors. integrates the constant assessment of nursing care needs with the care that focuses on health promotion and prevention. develops a plan to enhance overall health status in collaboration with the patient. adopts preventative steps that are both physical and mental. encourages patients to take charge of their own health and responsibility. comply with KFHPW documentation guidelines. is compliant with KFHPW safety requirements and offers each patient a safe environment. respects the KFHPW standards and recommendations for infection control, including those for communicable illness reporting.
  • Individual learning needs and engages in programs of continuing education to suit those demands. participates in student education and staff orientation events. collaborates with managers to complete the process of doing performance reviews of oneself, colleagues, and teams. ensures the quality of care by creating, putting into practice, and assessing professional nursing standards, as well as by taking part in multidisciplinary quality assurance activities. engages in profession-related activities. participates in nursing research and applies what she learns to her daily work. follows KFHPW personnel rules and upholds the highest standards of professional work conduct. Shows continuous evidence of maintaining a look that adheres to the KFHPW dress code.

  • Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited program
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Nurse License (Washington) required at hire
  • Basic Life Support required at hire
Additional Requirements:
  • Communication, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ambulatory care nursing experience.
  • Primary nursing or case-management experience.
  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
