According to the ophthalmologist’s instructions, conducts initial examinations and specific tests of the eyes. aids ophthalmologists as necessary during clinical examinations and surgical operations.

Essential Purposes

• Conducts interviews with each patient to learn about their symptoms and record the information in the patient’s medical file.

• Adheres to the established protocol to choose the right tests to do depending on the patient’s description of their symptoms and a personal examination of their eyes.

• Examines the patient’s condition and vision using specialized equipment.

• Provides test findings to the healthcare provider and draws attention to unusual circumstances.

• Supports general and specialized ophthalmologists during surgical operations and clinical eye examinations as needed.

• Use protective shields and eye dressings as indicated.

• Records examination findings and medical interventions in the patient file.

• Maintains and cleans specialized workspaces and equipment.

• Attends patients in need of immediate attention and informs the ophthalmologist of their status.

• Handles other related tasks as needed.
