About UCT online application dates 2023-2024
The opening day for the 2024 UCT admissions cycle is April 1, 2023. Keep in mind that 2024 will not accept any late applications. Financially needy applicants must use the NSFAS online application system to submit their applications. The application period will begin in September and end on November 30, 2023.
POSTGRADUATE APPLICANTS
Except for a few programs and faculties that begin to expire in May, most postgraduate programs that require coursework end on October 31.
The applicable closing dates are listed in the 2023 Directions for Postgraduate Applicants. Applications for research-only postgraduate programs at UCT are not due to close until 2023 or 2024. When applying, please indicate the year that your program will begin.
UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS
The 2024 UCT admission cycle is open on 1 April 2023. Remember there will be no late applications for 2024.
Applicants who need financial assistance must submit their applications on the NSFAS online application system. Applications will be open in September and close on 30 November 2023. Applications must be completed by clicking here for an application form.
APPLICANTS FOR SEMESTER STUDY ABROAD (SSA)
For the purpose of international credit mobility, the SSA program is available to international students who are pursuing degrees overseas and intend to study abroad at UCT for one or more semesters. They can transfer the credits to their degree at their home university once they have finished the semester course load at UCT. Credits from SSA do not count toward a UCT degree.
Applications for the first semester, which runs from late January to mid-June, are accepted beginning the first week of August and must be submitted by October 31 of the year prior.
Applications are accepted beginning the second week of January and must be submitted by April 30 of the same year for the second semester, which runs from early July through late November.

Every year, the application period begins in April, and you should try to submit an application as soon as you can after that.

Except for the majority of UCT graduates, every application requires payment of an application fee. Please consult the fee schedule for further details.
