About UL Online admission requirements 2023-2024
The admission requirements for the University of Limpopo may vary depending on the program of study and the level of study. In general, however, the following requirements apply:
- Undergraduate programs: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent qualification, with a minimum score of 30% in the language of instruction (e.g. English), and meet the minimum subject requirements for the chosen program. Some programs may have additional admission requirements, such as a minimum score in Mathematics or Physical Science.
Prospective students, with an NSC, who wish to gain entry to any undergraduate program at the University of Limpopo, should comply with the following:
- Life Orientation with an achievement level of at least three (3).
- Aligned with the language policy of the university, English is a language of learning and teaching with an achievement level of at least three (3).
- The required minimum levels of achievement in specific subjects as stipulated in the Calendars of each Faculty, provided that:
- Four 20-credit subjects were achieved with a minimum NSC achievement level of four (4) for degree programs and
- Four 20-credit subjects were achieved with a minimum NSC achievement level of three (3) for diploma programs.
- The required Admission Point Score (APS) is stipulated in the Calendars of each Faculty.
- Postgraduate programs: Applicants must have an appropriate Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in the relevant field of study, with a minimum score of 60% or a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0. Some programs may have additional admission requirements, such as relevant work experience or a research proposal.
- International applicants: International applicants must have an equivalent qualification to the NSC or Bachelor's degree and meet the minimum admission requirements for the chosen program. They may also be required to provide proof of English language proficiency, such as a minimum score on an English language test.

For potential students, the University of Limpopo will administer National Benchmarking Tests. The test's results will be examined in terms of student profiles and the distribution of suitable support.
- Programs with an Expanded Curriculum (ECP)
The University offers extended curriculum programs that are connected to the appropriate, authorized standard undergraduate degree programs but gives students an extra year to complete the learning objectives.
It is important to note that meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the University. Admission to the University of Limpopo is competitive, and selection is based on various factors, including academic performance, availability of places, and the University's selection criteria.
