JOB DESCRIPTION:

Coordination and oversight of patient treatment in the designated clinical area.

Significant Duties:

  • In the designated clinical area, administers all oral and injectable drugs. Ensures that all narcotics and drug supplies are available in the designated clinical area and ensures that all controlled substances are securely stored in accordance with KP standards and any relevant regulatory requirements. initiates and oversees the administration of IV treatment during therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
  • Provides continuing assurance that appropriate emergency medical supplies and operational emergency equipment are available. provides emergency assistance within the hospital institution. reports the emergency to the supervisor.
  • Plans for teaching patients about diabetes, hypertension, anticoagulant medication, therapeutic diet education, weight control, and other topics as defined are coordinated, put into practice, and evaluated.
  • As necessary, sets up, executes, or helps with procedures.
  • Coordinates the treatment of individuals recovering from sedation. ensures that safety precautions are put in place for individuals receiving care-impaired patients.
  • Walk-in patients are triaged based on need or assignment.
  • Oversees the delivery system's workflow, assisting team members in choosing the most effective care practices, etc.
  • Serves as a resource for clinic assistants and LPNs.
  • Serves as a patient advocate and handles issues with HCT. if a problem isn't fixed within the team, bring it to the Clinical Coordinators' notice.
  • Carries out further related tasks as directed.

Upon hire, the candidate must possess a valid DC license, and within six months after hire, a valid MD and VA license.

Basic requirements:

Experience:

  • Experience working in an HMO or ambulatory setting for at least one (1) year is required.
    IV therapy expertise is needed.

Education:

  • License, Certification, and Registration: None
  • Credentials from several states are required for this position. Before being hired, credentials from the major employment state are required. After hiring, additional credentials from the secondary work state(s) are needed.
  • Both a Maryland registered nurse license AND a Virginia registered nurse license must be obtained within six months of employment.

OR

  • Within six months of hire, a registered nurse with a compact license
  • Within six months of employment, a District of Columbia registered nurse license
  • First Aid/Life Support
Additional Requirements:
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S.N is preferred.
