Pharmacy Technician I FLOAT-On Call, Douglasville and Area 3 Float
Significant Duties:
Carries out general clerical tasks, such as operating cash registers, handling cash, determining a member's eligibility, bookkeeping, filing, and general supply upkeep.
Performs technical tasks, such as entering prescription and allergy data into the computer or typing prescription labels, retrieving medications from shelves, counting and packaging medications, labeling medications, and retrieving refill request data from automated systems and the phone, all under the direction of a registered pharmacist.
Helps with purchasing, pharmaceutical returns, return-to-stock, shelf cleaning, product rotation, and maintenance in addition to inventory control.
Serves customers promptly, courteously, and amiably, which encourages repeat business from customers.
Collaborates with nursing staff and medical records to gather and distribute prescription-related information (e.g. advice slips, refill requests).
Orients and teaches new pharmacy staff to department policies and procedures in collaboration with the supervisor or pursuant to the supervisor's direction.
where appropriate, takes part in patient education programs.
It is possible to have specific duties related to clinical pharmacy services, such as enrolling patients in the program, communicating with patients and practitioners, communicating with patients in writing, retrieving laboratory data, processing reports (such as missed appointments), gathering data for quality improvement projects, maintaining a filing system, and managing administrative office tasks.
Attends suitable pharmacy education or training programs.

- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
- Pharmacy Technician License (Georgia)
- Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with medical staff and patients.
- Knowledge of basic cash register operations and cash control systems.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret written prescriptions.
- Ability to work in a repetitive environment.
- Complete a job-specific assessment.
- One (1) year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail setting or one (1) year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a Kaiser Permanente Pharmacy preferred.
