Description:
Provides services for adult and/or child members who submit themselves for psychiatric examination with a wide range of mental health needs for mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention. Plans and oversees the treatment programs for each individual member in collaboration with the treating physician, the psychiatric team, and the allied health professionals.
Significant Duties:
Designs, develops, coordinates, and evaluates clinical treatment plans for the diagnosis, administration of care, and/or referral of Health Plan members suffering from mental illness, whether it be acute or chronic. takes part in staff meetings to choose, organize, and assess treatment programs. offers solo, couple, family, and group therapy in an outpatient setting. within the scope of practice, instructs and counsels patients and their families on how to follow prescribed therapy regimens and pharmaceutical regimens. may perform specific treatment procedures as necessary. supports the family of the member as necessary. may create and lead psychoeducational groups and classes.
It is possible to administer psychological tests, evaluate the results, and make recommendations. creates treatment plans, case summaries, and intake summaries and keeps ongoing, private records. Keeps track of a member's care and development in line with state and NCQA rules as well as generally accepted community norms. Participation in the department's on-call rotation can be necessary.
Collaborates with doctors to determine whether patients should take psychotropic drugs while acting within the parameters of their profession. utilizes community-based groups, public, private, and agency resources to satisfy the member's treatment needs. Programs in behavioral medicine and health psychology may be developed, put into practice, and evaluated in a range of contexts, including primary care. offers advice to other healthcare professionals and health educators on issues pertaining to behavioral medicine, health psychology, and mental health. As needed, offers clinical supervision to other mental health trainees/fellows, psychology postdoctoral residents, and psychology doctoral interns.
If a supervision course has been successfully completed, an individual may supervise Post Master's Fellows, Associate Clinical Social Workers, Associate Marriage Family Therapists, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselors as needed.
Upon request by the member, may offer suitable support to the member's family, including explanations of the therapy, guidelines for supporting the treatment, and interventions to improve acceptance and adherence to the treatment.
Utilizes community groups, public and private agencies, and their resources to satisfy the member's treatment needs, including, as necessary, directing the member and/or member's family to outside sources. participates in the creation, execution, and assessment of departmental programs.

- N/A
- Ph.D./PsyD/EdD in Clinical Counseling, Health or School Psychology from an accredited college or university.
- Current valid license to practice psychology in the State of California or valid license to practice in a state in the United States and able to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (maximum of 180 days subject to the specifics of the regulation).
- Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) or obtain NPI, prior to employment start date.
Additional Requirements:
DSM-V must be understood as a diagnostic tool.
Must have:
- knowledge of a wide range of mental diagnoses and treatments.

- the capacity to punctually finish several tasks/objectives.
- APA standards, state laws, and social service organizations' policies on how to treat patients, protect their rights and maintain patient/client confidentiality.
Psychological testing, diagnosis, crisis intervention, and brief individual and group psychotherapy were once performed as clinical duties.
understanding of the administration, interpretation, and procedures of psychological tests.
outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
Must be able to collaborate with management to achieve goals.
- Previous clinical responsibility includes crisis intervention, and individual and group psychotherapy.
- Demonstrated experience in psychological evaluations of adults, children, adolescents, & families, including administering & writing up psychological testing & assessment batteries preferred.
- Demonstrated professional maturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming professional responsibilities, preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner, preferred
- Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans is preferred.
- Competence in individual, family, and group psychotherapy, is preferred.
