Job Summary:
This position has regional responsibility for achieving the Region's mission and overall business objectives, reporting directly to the Regional President with joint accountability to the Executive Medical Director. A particular focus of this position is the deployment, promotion, and protection of the potent Kaiser Permanente national brand with internal and external stakeholders as well as support for regional membership growth.
The regional vice president is in charge of using all available communication channels and vehicles to promote the Kaiser Permanente brand among internal coworkers, external stakeholders, and the media. Additionally, the regional vice president is in charge of leading the region's Community Health portfolio and ensuring that the organization's charity mission is fulfilled in accordance with local requirements and corporate goals.
Working with colleagues from across all Kaiser Permanente regions, the Permanente Medical Group, the KP Medical Foundation, and national experts in brand management and strategy, public relations, community health, marketing, and communications is another crucial responsibility of this position. The regional vice president is directly responsible for managing marketing, creative services, community health commitments, member communications, corporate/internal communications, advertising, public relations, and other related areas. Events both internal and external, as well as issues management duties for the area. For example, the position calls for significant leadership and communications strategy knowledge in the following critical areas:

In Washington, raise awareness of the Kaiser Permanente name and care philosophy.

Executive communications for the joint market leadership team, executive medical director, and president of the Washington region

Member communications that enhance the member experience and foster loyalty among the members

media relations and public relations with the local press and important outside stakeholders

Developing connections with the local government and community/Public Affairs

Internal communication to include the staff and medical professionals in carrying out our mission and enhancing performance to accomplish business goals

Issues management to safeguard the reputation of Kaiser Permanente in Washington

Marketing plan to increase membership across various business sectors.

 

This position is charged with providing leadership to the company's community health initiatives, which include the community health portfolio that carries out the company's charitable mission; community relations to ensure that the company is seen as a dependable and enduring neighbor; and as a civic leader dedicated to ensuring the social and economic vitality of the Washington market.

Significant Duties:

By engaging in marketing and branding activities, strategic communications to engage staff members and physicians, the implementation of Kaiser Permanente's Community Health Needs Assessment, and the development of execution plans to support enterprise-wide Community Health initiatives, the incumbent promotes Kaiser Permanente's mission to “provide affordable, high-quality health care services and to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve.” This comprises marketing initiatives coordinated with the senior management of the Health Plan and the Permanente Medical Group, as well as internal communications, member communications, communications regarding the delivery of care, public relations, and social media. Principal responsibilities include:

Manages the marketing message, media plan, and communications strategy required to meet company objectives in Washington. develops a proactive marketing and communications strategy in conjunction with national marketing and communications to support regional business objectives and marketing initiatives.

Collaborates with the KP Medical Foundation on market communications requirements for care delivery in coordination with other Foundation-supported regions.

Oversees the advocacy, work priorities, and every aspect of the regional community health strategy. works hard to improve the health and well-being of the communities that Kaiser Permanente serves, both within and outside.

Supervises the Community Health portfolio and Community Benefit financial commitments with the Chief Financial Officer and ensures adherence to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Conceives and puts into action a strategic communication plan to assist regional leadership and the regional operational plan.

Creates and puts into action a strategic plan for physician and staff engagement.

Collaborates on brand strategy with national communications and marketing.

Manages community activities such as public relations, events, sponsorships, and others while collaborating with the national advertising and public relations teams.

Coordinates with National Issues Management and oversees issue management

To increase KP's influence, return on investment, or impact, it forges strategic alliances, links, and integration within its primary spheres of accountability, with the Market's other strategic priorities, and in the community.

Ensures that all member communications are effectively aligned and coordinated (face-to-face, online, video, and print).

Oversees all community relations initiatives to make sure the business is seen favorably by the community.

Coordinates all initiatives, funding, and collaborations to position the organization as a civic leader dedicated to maintaining the market's social and economic vitality.

Actively contributes to the Community Health Executive Committee, Enterprise Communications Leadership Team, and Marketing Executive Leadership Team in order to add a regional perspective to the work and assure success across all KP regions.

Ensures that sponsorships and events, both internal and external, are a success, accurately represent the Kaiser Permanente brand, and further the organization's goals.

 

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible communications, public relations, and/or marketing roles with a strong understanding of the business needs and competitive challenges of the healthcare industry are required.
Education
  • Advanced degree in a business, communications, or health-related field.
License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of community health needs (preferably in the market) and community benefit obligations.
  • A seasoned executive with a sophisticated approach to motivating employees and peers; demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted advisor and strong and collaborative leader.
  • Broad knowledge of the technical elements involved in marketing, communications, public relations, issues management, and advertising.
