WITS online application dates 2023-2024
The university has produced numerous notable alumni, including Nelson Mandela, the first democratically elected president of South Africa, and many other influential leaders in politics, business, academia, and the arts.
After you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email with your application number. You can use this number to track your application status online. Once your application is processed, you will receive further communication from the university regarding the outcome of your application.
The application dates for the University of the Witwatersrand vary depending on the program you are applying for. Below are the general application dates for different categories of students:
- Undergraduate Applicants:
- South African citizens and Permanent Residents: Applications usually open in March and close on 30th September of the same year.
- International Applicants: Applications usually open in March and close on 31st August of the same year.
- Postgraduate Applicants:
- South African citizens and Permanent Residents: Applications are accepted throughout the year but deadlines may vary depending on the program.
- International Applicants: Applications are accepted throughout the year but deadlines may vary depending on the program.
- Health Sciences Faculty Applicants:
- South African citizens and Permanent Residents: Applications usually open in March and close on 30th June of the same year.
- International Applicants: Applications usually open in March and close on 31st May of the same year.
Closing Dates
- 30 June 2023 – Faculty of Health Sciences (all programmes); Bachelor of Architecture; Bachelor of Audiology, Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology; BA Film and TV
- 30 September 2023 – All other University programS
- 30 September 2023 – Residence applications
- Applications for the midyear BA degree intake: open from 1 April to 31 May. Applications for other part-time degrees: open from 1 July for 2024.
