Kaiser Permanente (KP) nurses advance the art and science of nursing through clinical and service excellence, professionalism, and leadership.  The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides support for team and provider(s) during facility encounters. Manages patient traffic flow. Performs follow-up care per provider instructions and in accordance with the scope of practice. Assists with patient education. Documents clinical information into the medical record.

Significant Duties:

Prepares patient for examinations by examining medical history, gathering current data, and suitable vital signs, and recording in the patient's medical file in accordance with standards.

Addresses POE Care Gaps and, as necessary, sets up appointments.

Verify any current prescriptions and any pending refills that require a doctor's signature.

Examine, confirm, and update your history of allergies, smoking, and tobacco use.

Delivers the intervention the practitioner has requested (such as IVs, dressings, specimen collection, irrigations, suture removal, and medicine) and records the patient's reaction.

Prepare the space and tools for the procedures, and assist the doctor as necessary.

As assigned by the RN and within the scope of practice, assist with the management and monitoring of patient and physician electronic messages. Licensed Practical Nurse

provides patient education and guidelines-compliant preparatory materials for diagnostic tests.

Organizes patient appointments for lab, radiology, consultations, and follow-up visits as directed by the practitioner.

effectively instructs patients and their families in preventative and continuing health care.

participates in emergency care as required and per a doctor's or nurse's instructions.

upholds departmental standards for quality improvement.
