Description:
The licensed nursing staff receives assistance from a certified nursing assistant (CNA) when providing nursing care. Under the supervision and guidance of a designated Registered Nurse (RN) and/or the Charge RN, they will execute their tasks and obligations. In order to meet the needs of the patient and the unit, the CNA collaborates with and supports the nursing staff in providing services. Every work will be completed in accordance with the demands of the patient and their family in light of the age-specific and age-appropriate levels of care.
Under the direction of a registered nurse, the CNA's primary duties include helping patients with the following tasks:
PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES
- Needs for safety
- Routine Rounds
- Be a part of the unit's fall prevention program.
- Participate in a program for workplace safety
- Alerts for patient mobility safety
- Lifting Devices
- A bed rail
- Isolation at the bed level and personal protective equipment
- Chemotherapy Precautions
- Suctioning the oral pharynx Patient monitoring assignment
- RestraintsNeeds for personal hygiene
- Oral and dental care
- Bed and bath
- Bath A.M./P.M. Care Shower Sitz
- Peri-Care
- The routine skin care, using ointments and creams available over the market to treat skin disorders prophylactically
- To get rid of nits, use pediculicides and comb your hair.
- Comfort Steps:
- Passing water pitchers and filling them
- Taking care of catheters, such as inserting and removing condom catheterslinen change every day
post-mortem treatment as needed
- Use of skin care products for nursing comfort (NOTE: Excludes anything bought from a pharmacy.)
- NG tubes should not be disconnected and reconnected while performing ADLs. Warm and cold therapies include warm and cold compresses, ice packs, ice collars, ice gloves, heated soaks, and whirlpool or sitz baths.

- Making patient meal trays, snacks, and fluids as the RN directs
- Feeding methods
- Weighing (standing, chair scale, bed scale, sling scale) (standing, chair scale, bed scale, sling scale)
- Patient Transportation: As instructed by the primary nurse and/or charge RN, to procedures, to other units, and for discharge
- Patient Supplies: Put sequential compression techniques to use
- Help patients enter and exit Continuous Passive Motion devices
- Victim traction

- Trapeze/overhead frame

Other obligations:
- Bladder examination
- Gather a clean, fresh urine sample.
- Take a sterile urine sample from a catheter's port.
- Help the patient breathe deeply and cough.
- Pharyngeal oral suction
- Equipment maintenance
- Battery replacements for machinery
- Transport and collecting of specimens
- Obligations assigned to the unit
COLLECTION OF DATA
- Vital indicators
- Temperature, heart rate, and breathing
- Blood pressure measured in the upper arm, thigh, and lower leg, both manually and electronically, including orthostatic readings
- Pulse oximetry
- Dimensions and weight
- The drainage device and closed drainage system output should be measured, noted, and/or emptied.
Documentation:
According to hospital regulations, CNAs must record information gathered and tasks completed on the following forms:
- Output and intake sheet
- Sheet with the calories.
- Flow Sheets as necessary (such as a 24-hour flow sheet or a restraint flow sheet).
- Image Sheet
- ID sheet with signatures
- Database for admissions (profiles, summaries of days' events, and outpatient procedure forms)
- Document For Patients Under 1:1 Flow Sheet Observation
- Uses acceptable verbal and nonverbal communication techniques that show respect for patients, their property, and coworkers.
- Alerts the nurse that the patient needs modifying devices because their sensory or cognitive function has diminished (glasses, hearing aid, TDD, closed caption TV).
- Notifies the nurse of any symptoms or indicators that are regarded as abnormal.
- Demonstrates knowledge of providing age-appropriate care for the target group.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum six (6) months of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing, extended care, or clinical outpatient setting.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
Education
- High school diploma or GED.
License, Certification, Registration
- Current CNA certification by the State of California.
- Valid CPR card.

- This night shift position works from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am.
