Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides nursing care to patients, uses observational skills to evaluate the nursing intervention, and works with medical professionals to ensure the best possible patient care while adhering to established rules, procedures, and standards.
Significant Duties:

Shows patients, visitors, doctors, and coworkers outstanding customer relations; demonstrate civility, compassion, and respect; and complies with the essential service standards established for the division and the medical group.

within the scope of practice, provides therapeutic patient care in line with the patients defined by the doctor and a licensed nurse.

writes down medical orders in accordance with protocol.

Directly interacts with registered nurses to implement modifications to care plans; supports and participates to the creation of nursing care.

administer the prescribed drug topically, intramuscularly, or orally.

performs procedures such as urine catheterizations, bladder installs and irrigations, suctioning techniques, throat irrigations, and enemas while using the appropriate equipment.

Applying and removing dressings, taking temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure readings, teaching the patient how to administer various treatments or procedures themselves, collecting specimens, and ensuring proper culture collection are all tasks that fall under the category of related patient care.

Provides support and restraint to the patient, chooses and passes instruments, drapes the patient, and provides additional assistance as instructed or necessary to help the doctor or other medical staff members with examinations and treatments.

Maintains intravenous flow rate, performs venipuncture and finger sticks to obtain blood samples, notifies the registered nurse of any issues and stops using needles. Within the scope, evaluates patient condition by observing signs, symptoms, and reactions to therapy to identify unexpected and/or significant findings, initiates appropriate emergency procedures as necessary, and reports unusual conditions to the registered nurse as established by policy and procedure in a timely manner.

adds information on the patient's signs, symptoms, observations, and therapeutic interventions to their medical file.

Visual inspection, routine testing, and other appropriate techniques, ensures the cleanliness of the nursing module, the patient room, and the surrounding area, as well as the proper operation of the patient care equipment.

gives workers and patients a secure and healing atmosphere.

uses both vocal and nonverbal communication techniques that are effective.

performs in other locations or units as directed by nursing management in order to deliver and uphold the set standards of care and security.

attends staff meetings and training sessions.

aids in the delivery of equipment and supplies for modules.

accepts doctor's instructions over the phone and in person.

administers spirometer, oral, nasal, and trach suctioning, sputum induction, oxygen therapy by a mask or nasal cannula, and pulse oximetry.

by displaying abilities that are compatible with the company's vision of delivering exceptional customer relations and high-quality service, promotes, ensures, and enhancing customer service to internal and external customers.

performs additional relevant tasks as needed, such as checking patients or members in.

Age-Related Competencies: Skills evaluations and validations are used to make sure that staff members providing patient care to particular age groups (such as infants, adolescents, the elderly, etc.) are competent in identifying the special needs and behaviors associated with a given patient population.

Occasionally take on additional tasks and obligations as directed.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience
  • Six (6) months of recent medical office or acute care LVN experience.
Education
  • N/A
License, Certification, Registration
  • Vocational Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support

 

Additional Requirements:
  • A current LVN license, BCLS certification, and successful completion of the internal Kaiser New Graduate LVN program are next in line, if a position cannot be filled.
