Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Director. utilizing secure and effective procedures. carries out relevant technological tasks to guarantee the best possible diagnostic standard of patient care. The work of other nuclear medicine technologists may be supervised and checked.
Essential Functions:

Performs diagnostic tests on patients as directed by a doctor, utilizing scintillation cameras or scanners to detect radiation emitted and create organ images on photographic film.

• Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, determines doses, and delivers doses under the general direction of the physician.

• Under the direct supervision of a doctor, administers radiopharmaceutical therapeutic doses.

• Calculates radioactivity using scintillation detectors, scalers, and Geiger counters.

• Sets equipment calibrations.

• Uses and discards radioactive materials in accordance with radiation safety procedures.

• Can supervise and review other nuclear medicine technologists' work.

• Executes other relevant tasks as required.

• No supervision is required for this position.

Grade: 890
Basic Qualifications:
– Recent nuclear medicine experience of at least three years in a row.
– GED or High School Diploma.
– Requires registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
– Certification from the California Nuclear Medicine Technology Board. BLS card
– Proven ability to carry out all tasks and processes as specified by the employer.
– The capacity to read and understand brief communications, memos, and simple directions.
– The capacity for basic correspondence.
– The capacity to communicate information to clients, customers, and other employees of the company in one-on-one and small-group settings.
– The employee must be prepared to work in a labor-management partnership setting.
