Job Summary:
Participate as a team member of the Eye Care Service Line to provide technical and patient care support to the Optometry and Ophthalmology Department and Doctors. Eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other optical equipment are sold, fitted, dispensed, measured, adjusted, and made in accordance with written prescriptions.
Significant Duties:
  • Maintaining customer/patient records, collecting and analyzing data, and analyzing and interpreting prescriptions are all examples of data analysis.
  • Fitting and dispensing eyewear includes taking measurements, ordering products, dispensing eyewear, and offering follow-up services. It also includes recommending and demonstrating eyewear and other ophthalmic products to customers and patients.
  • Identifying visual needs, wants, and requirements before fitting and dispensing contacts lenses
  • Take measurements, identify the lens type and parameters, insert trial lenses, assess the results of the trial lenses, place product orders, instruct the customer/patient on all facets of lens wear and care, and offer follow-up evaluation and services.
  • Making ophthalmic items involves carrying out mathematical calculations, acquiring materials, processing those materials, and inspecting the final goods.
  • Maintain and run ophthalmic machinery.
  • Maintaining inventories, processing and filing third-party claims, maintaining MSDS files, doing financial tasks, and offering customer support are examples of administrative tasks.
  • Perform administrative duties:

Maintain inventories, perform third party claims processing and filing, maintain MSDS files, perform bookkeeping duties, and provide customer service.

 

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • N/A
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Dispensing Optician License (Washington) required at hire

OR

  • National Contact Lens Examiner – Basic Certification required at hire AND American Board of Opticianry Basic Certification required at hire

Additional Conditions:

  • Interpersonal, communication, and customer service abilities.
  • Knowledge and comprehension of basic medical and optical terminology.
  • Knowledge of computers in a Windows environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Optical dispensary, ophthalmology/optometry practice or other optical related experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited optician program.

Working Hours End: 05:30 PM
