DESCRIPTION
By stocking, counting, and performing other non-technical tasks, pharmacy assistants support pharmacists and technicians. may also provide patients with safe, efficient medication, package prescriptions, and monitor packages. Work is done directly under a licensed pharmacist's supervision.

Significant Duties:

Prepackaging and labeling medications, stocking shelves, counting and pouring medications from stock bottles that have been pulled by licensed or certified staff, filing prescriptions, performing inventory tasks, releasing refill medications and OTC products to patients, processing refill requests when no changes are required, and handling unprofessional phone calls are all tasks that support the pharmacists and technicians in the pharmacy's daily workflow.

identifies chances to prevent unusual events, routinely conducts safety checks while dispensing drugs, and takes the necessary action to address and report unusual events to ensure patient safety.

By remaining up to date on clinical efforts and priorities, one demonstrates a commitment to evidence-based medicine.

The facilitation of patient-focused care through a collaborative team approach with patients, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare experts.

Basic Qualifications: 
Experience
  • N/A.

 

Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.

 

License, Certification, Registration
  • Pharmacy Assistant License (Washington) required at hire

 

Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to use available resources and tools efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify specified issues and bring them to the attention of pharmacists.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • May be required to travel to other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington locations as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a pharmacy environment.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a customer service environment.
  • Some college coursework.
  • Knowledge of managed care health systems and evidence-based medicine theories.
