Significant Duties:
All Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency rules and procedures are known to this position, and it complies with them. Shows excellence and effectiveness in clinical practice and work habits in all interactions with patients, coworkers, providers, and leadership. ensures patient safety in the planning and delivery of care involving, but not limited to, medications, including the regular application of 5 rights and 3 checks of medication administration, procedures, infection prevention, and fall prevention, including the regular application of 2 patient identifiers. swiftly notifies authorities of safety risks, mishaps, and harmful working circumstances.
Using the proper tools, techniques, and specimen labeling process, performs appropriate basic, routine, and ongoing delegated medical functions as directed and within the appropriate scope of practice as indicated by knowledge, skill level, and KP guidelines (such as vision screening, ear irrigations, hearing tests, hematocrit measurements, EKG tests, and collecting throat, wound, and sputum specimens, as well as urine cultures).
By watching over the patient during procedures and offering the proper supplies and instruments, one can assist doctors and other healthcare professionals in completing standard examination and treatment processes.
As needed, carries out regular administrative and reception tasks such as filling up patient visit records, keeping departmental logs, collecting messages, checking patients in, and scheduling appointments.
Various tasks as given, including stocking shelves, taking inventory, ordering supplies, helping to orient and train new personnel, and transporting patients or equipment.
Shows proficiency with a computer by using an automated medical record to chart and review. complies with KP regulations and the practice's boundaries. conforms to legal criteria and care norms.
Only routine and regularly administered medications may be administered by medical assistants who were hired before 4/14/03 and who have had their medication administration knowledge and skill competency validated before 1/1/05. They must also have a current annual competency validation and a written provider sponsor agreement. MAs can not administer medications that require drug dose calculation.

Flexibility is shown, and staff employees are easily helped. keeps the workplace safe and healthy for oneself, other employees, and patients.
Cleaning, stocking, and organizing supplies, equipment, and instruments to have exam and treatment rooms ready for use by doctors and other healthcare professionals. uses knowledge of sterile techniques to prepare treatment rooms for unique procedures as needed. uses a suitable germicide solution to clean, package, and sterilize reusable supplies and devices as necessary.
In order to determine the patient visit order, the nurse reviews and relays the physician and other medical providers' appointment schedules. She also asks for any special instructions or requests for the day, and then respectfully welcomes and escorts the patient to the examination or treatment room. informs patients, physicians, or other healthcare professionals, as well as other team members, of their status and/or any delays throughout the day.
Interviews the patient to determine the reason for the visit; takes the patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height, and weight; records the information in the patient's medical record; and, in accordance with standard requirements, reports the findings to the appropriate personnel.
kindly and compassionately instructs or helps patients get ready for scheduled procedures. As required, takes patients to various patient care locations and gives them basic verbal and written instructions for things like using crutches, cast care, and wound care.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program of at least six (6) months in duration for the Medical Assistant. Copy of diploma and transcripts from program required.
