Significant Duties:
establishes, oversees, and recommends modifications to the clinical practice area's standards of care. Develops care plans for complex, high-risk patients in collaboration with the nursing team after determining the patient's and the family's age-specific nursing needs.
determines whether the care is effective.
Creates educational programs for patients and families and aids nursing staff in putting them into action. creates collaborative plans of treatment for patients with complicated needs and high risk. Assesses staff knowledge and identifies staff and member requirements for competency-based education together with other members of the healthcare team.
Creates and carries out educational initiatives to guarantee the caliber of personnel knowledge and abilities. introduces novel approaches or innovations in line with trends in cutting-edge practice. A preceptor for recently graduated healthcare students is possible.
advising doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals on how to best fulfill the requirements of a single patient or a group of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
based on one's own or other people's research, makes suggestions for changing standards of practice or care.
identifies and puts into effect best nursing practices. assists in conducting staff interviews contributes to assessments of clinical competency and offers coaching and counseling.
participates in and offers advice on developing standards, determining the direction of QA&I monitoring, and evaluating results. gathers and examines information on morbidity, mortality, trends, and patient care outcomes.
Using KP Health Connect to assess the standard of the healthcare given. Clinical operations are managed via KP Health Connect. monitors the documentation on KP Health Connect for quality, appropriateness, and correctness. maintains KP Health Connect qualifications unique to a given function.
Regular position compensation reviews are done at Kaiser Permanente. - Minimum three (3) years of experience in area of clinical specialty required.
- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree in a clinical field of nursing or a clinical field related to nursing including but not limited to psychology, public health, social work, education, health sciences, behavioral sciences, nutrition, and bioethics from a nationally accredited master's/post master's nursing academic program.
- Current California RN license by date of hire.
- Clinical Nurse Specialist certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing by date of hire.
- Current BLS certificate required.
- May require a Nat'l Provider Identifier (NPI) if needed for Clinical Nurse Specialist prior to date of hire.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Clinical Nurse Specialist experience preferred.
- ACLS or PALS Certification preferred.
- CLS, ACLS, Intensive Care Unit Experience, MSN.
