Description:

The pre-analytic phases of laboratory testing procedures are carried out by the lab assistant, who may also carry out the analytic and post-analytic portions of waived testing processes. duties include providing customer assistance over the phone and in person, entering and retrieving data from computers, and maintaining a tidy workspace. In terms of safety and lab testing, s/he is in charge of keeping track of supplies, documenting all activities, and adhering to all regulatory and accrediting standards. accountable for adhering to the rules and regulations of KP Laboratory.

 

Significant Duties:

Specimen Gathering and Processing: Gathers samples for laboratory examination. possesses knowledge of the unique specimen collecting and handling requirements for various demographics, such as young children, geriatric patients, and babies. processing samples in accordance with standard lab practices for laboratory testing.

Accessing samples, retrieving data, and entering results into a computer system

Other obligations take part in activities for performance improvement. carries out maintenance. performs EKG testing and waived testing. teaches phlebotomy to staff and students.

Technical resource: Assists with problem-solving and provides solutions to pre-analytical procedural queries. acts as a primary resource for laboratory clients. helps with the examination and updating of lab procedure manuals.

Basic Qualifications: 
Experience
  • N/A
Education
  • High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certificate (Washington) OR Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington)
  • Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire

 

Additional Requirements:
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service.
  • Problem-solving skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • The recent completion of a phlebotomy program OR recent phlebotomy and clinical laboratory experience.
  • Phlebotomy and clinical laboratory training.
