Laboratory Technician Support Services Supervisor
Description:
oversees and checks the accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency of all laboratory support staff's work.
schedules and distributes workers in the best possible way during periods of fluctuating work load.
Verifies that samples are collected and processed in accordance with the predetermined timing and quality criteria.
acts as a point of contact between the medical staff and the clinical laboratory to manage the processing of both special and standard tests, explain orders, gather missing data, and address issues.
Ensures adherence to departmental, medical center, and state/local laws and regulations.
maintains the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetics of work places.
offers on-going coaching, reprimanding, evaluation, and training to the staff.
encourages cooperation and harmony within the department.
promptly addresses and resolves employee and patient complaints.
responds to patient care problems to keep service standards high.
The management of patient fees' collecting and recording is possible.
identifies the supplies required for the laboratory's designated area(s) of operation.
maintains a budget that is both affordable and up to date with regards to new products and suppliers.
helps to maintain and coordinate the laboratory disaster plan.
To suit the demands of the employees, physicians, and patients, processes and systems are developed.
keeps departmental manuals current.
gathers workload information as well as other statistical data as needed.
Keep all laboratory samples computerized for access.

- Minimum five (5) years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory/leadership experience.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
- Medical Laboratory Technician License (California) OR Phlebotomy Technician II Certificate (California) OR Limited Phlebotomy Technician Certificate (California) OR Phlebotomy Technician I Certificate (California)
- Recent experience (within three years of hire date) in a high volume clinical laboratory required.
- Knowledge of management theories and principles.
- Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong written and verbal skills required.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
