Description:
performs moderately complex to highly complex laboratory tests, and creates records of test results. maintains supplies, tools, and equipment. Medical Laboratory Technician.
Significant Duties:
To ensure test accuracy, test equipment is prepared and calibrated.
according to the guidelines in the laboratory procedures handbook, prepares and collects samples and carries out moderately to very difficult laboratory tests.
talks to the supervisor about any unexpected or unreasonable test findings.
reports each test's results and associated test data by inputting data into a database on a computer.
makes forms and reports, distributes them, and files them.
After each test, clean the necessary tools and equipment.
performs upkeep and small repairs on tools and equipment.
Identifies equipment problems and alerts the necessary personnel.
helps newly hired staff members understand laboratory techniques.
carries out further related tasks as directed.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of current experience in a clinical laboratory or in related field required.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
Education
Required qualifications include holding the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician), as well as an associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, medical laboratory technology, or having successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course of at least 50 weeks' duration. You must have the necessary documents for your relevant degree (i.e. copies of diplomas, transcripts, or International Degree Equivalency Report). The document must explicitly state the major. If the major is not stated on the diploma, another document stating the major is needed. Medical Laboratory Technician
