Oversees and directs operations in outpatient or inpatient pharmacy, centralized services, or both. oversees daily operations in compliance with relevant laws and cost-cutting initiatives. Manage subordinate clerks, cashiers, pharmacy technicians, designated administrative staff, and other centralized services workers. accountable for the assigned pharmacy's financial, service, quality, compliance, and legal/regulatory goals. I am responsible for the department's overall success as a member of the pharmacy's management team.

 

 

 

Significant Duties:

To assure service delivery within expected boundaries of satisfaction, quality, and compliance, monitor and maintain pharmacy workflows. Members, patients, doctors, nurses, and ancillary departments are just a few of the clients that can be handled, depending on the operating setup (centralized services, outpatient, or inpatient). oversee and guide subordinate workers' work in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and standards. Pharmacy technicians, pharmacy clerks, and certain administrative employees are examples of subordinates. Uphold and modify work schedules. Recognize and implement the appropriate clauses in the collective bargaining agreements. Determine and address issues and grievances brought up by patients, members, client departments, and/or clients. Create and implement solutions utilizing sound decision-making and problem-solving techniques. gives personnel regular communication and feedback.

To guarantee a successful service recovery, address any problems or service interruptions right away. Determine trends in service concerns and create action plans for correction. act as the department's point of contact for pharmacy-related operational and service issues. Within the limits of the budget, maintain and modify resources to fulfill operational needs. Perform, direct, and oversee continuing employee training, including a review of training requirements and/or gaps in relation to established standards, best practices, and/or policy. act as the department's train-the-trainer. Reiterate departmental policies, practices, and service culture and hold direct reports liable. Encourage a collaborative environment by modeling these behaviors; hold direct reports accountable for adopting team-oriented attitudes; and make sure all required team-building training is carried out.

Ensure adherence to all applicable organizational, departmental, Joint Commission, CMS, SOX, State Board of Pharmacy, and other legal requirements, as well as the Principles of Responsibility.

Make sure the pharmaceutical inventory is used effectively and that all necessary records are kept. oversee the ordering of money for cash drawers and the administration of the over/short process, as well as the cash control process in accordance with policies and procedures. Inform supervisors of any discovered discrepancies and offer suggestions for fixing problems. Help the pharmacy manager create departmental goals for compliance, service quality, finance, and people. Establish departmental goals, create operational plans, train people, and assess performance using tools and reports.

Attend manager peer group meetings at the local and regional levels in order to share best practices for achieving goals. Technician, Clerk, and Cashier positions are filled after conducting interviews with candidates; new hires are then given department orientation. Give direct reports coaching and counseling.

Prepare and execute performance reviews (30, 60, 90, and annual), impose official sanctions, and address union concerns in collaboration with the pharmacist manager. Review attendance on a quarterly or monthly basis. Review over/under reports every quarter. Perform tasks related to timekeeping. Facilitate departmental staff meetings, helping the pharmacy manager arrange the agenda if necessary. Analysis of team and individual performance will be used to create operational/correction plans.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience supervising non-exempt staff across various job classifications, including technical and union employees OR at least two (2) years of experience leading or directing others in a healthcare environment.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration and/or healthcare services, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrate skills and ability to directly supervise front-line employees in a complex and high-volume pharmacy environment.
  • Ability to assess operational workflow and make adjustments using sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of procedures and laws/regulations in pharmacy settings.
  • Working knowledge of budget development and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and/or software applications, including the ePIMS system and Health Connect systems.
  • Completion of all KP Pharmacy required management training programs.
  • Must complete all KP required training for managing in a union environment.
  • Ability to manage in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Experience in developing and conducting training programs for staff.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.
