Makes sure the space and equipment in the cardiac catheterization lab are operational. direct patient care during and after treatments with assistance. During interventional and diagnostic procedures, assumes the roles of a scrub tech and a heart monitor tech. carries out imaging and other radiological tasks. helps manage inventories and supplies to ensure proper availability of consumables for lab and care associated with it. aids in new cardiac catheterization staff onboarding. Changes in non-clinical and departmental activities are suggested to enhance patient care quality and maintain a work-life balance. identifies problems and suggests fixes. aids in carrying out policies and procedures. provides the cardiac catheterization staff with resources and a role model.

 

 

Significant Duties:

the aseptic approach is used to set up the procedure room and laboratory for cardiac catheterization.

direct patient care during and after treatments with assistance.

ensures the essential safety precautions, paying special attention to radiation safety.

according to the practitioner's direction and within the scope of their practice, assists in post-catheterization maintenance of the sheath and insertion site.

performs duties as a cardiac monitor technician and scrub tech during diagnostic and interventional procedures. When executing the duty of cardiac monitor technician, ensures accurate documentation in the electronic procedure record.

maintains the necessary amount of cardiac support in accordance with the practice scope.

maintains material management and inventory control.

Working with biomedical engineering, the appropriate industrial partners, and the system administrator for the physiological and archival system, ensures the proper performance and quality of imaging and radiography equipment. ensures that the equipment receives the necessary calibration, upkeep, and inspection.

engages in actions aimed at quality control and improvement. Changes in non-clinical and departmental activities are suggested to enhance patient care quality and maintain a work-life balance. identifies problems and suggests fixes.

educates and trains staff members who work as cardiac catheterization technicians in the diagnostic and interventional techniques used in the laboratory setting. Implements training and monitoring measures in collaboration with the supervisor and the necessary staff.

serves as a resource for and liaison between the leadership and staff of cardiac catheterization technologists for matters not directly related to clinical care. represents the department at meetings on radiation safety. supports the supervisor with difficult non-clinical problems or patient complaints.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of current cardiac special procedures and interventional cardiac catheterization lab experience.

 

Education
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; or two (2) years of directly related experience.

 

License, Certification, Registration
  • Valid Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure) upon date of hire.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) with the Cardiovascular Credentialing International OR Current ACLS certification.
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.

 

Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, group presentations, group process facilitation, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem-solving, quality management, results from orientation, team building, teamwork, and written communication.
