Under the supervision and guidance of the Environmental Services Director, this position is accountable for the site management of environmental services assigned staff who are performing cleaning and project work at a medical facility or medical office building, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. ensures that the building(s) are kept in a safe, clean, and functionally effective condition by monitoring the environmental services program.

Significant Duties:

 

Supervises employees in relation to their specific responsibilities, such as service levels, departmental policies, and quality standards.

Ensures adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Ensures adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal laws. interviews and chooses employees for environmental services.

Oversees the annual performance evaluation process.

Maintains and follows all OSHA, DHS, TJC, NFPA, OSHPD, and other governing agency regulations and standards as well as departmental policies and procedures pertaining to environmental services.

Organizes, plans, manages and carries out personnel training and development required to satisfy predetermined performance standards, teamwork requirements, and service criteria.

To assess/monitor performance, customer satisfaction, and infection prevention program compliance conducts area inspections with the assigned environmental services workers.

Make sure that daily general inspections and formal inspections are performed in all building areas each month.

Ensures that work methods, quality assurance standards, department policies and procedures, and job specifications are followed by groundskeeping staff members (if appropriate).

Aids in keeping budgetary compliance.

Finds and suggests options for cost reduction and service level improvement.

Manages the department's labor relations efforts in conjunction with human resources and makes sure local contracts are followed.

Oversees and keeps inventory supplies at predetermined par levels.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a lead or supervisory position is required.
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
Additional Requirements:
  • Management skills, including interviewing, organizing, planning, and problem solving skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience providing environmental services in a medical setting
  • Experience with negotiating units and contract interpretation of at least three (3) years.
  • Understanding of hospital infection prevention, hygiene standards, and cleaning techniques.
  • The ability to function in a partnership between labor and management is required.
  • It is preferred to have certification from the International Executive Housekeepers Association  (IEHA) or the Association for Healthcare Environment (AHE).
  • A two-year college degree OR an associate's degree OR two (2) years of experience in a subject that is closely similar.
