Description:

Performs diagnostic and therapeutic operations linked to sleep under general supervision. Provides direct and indirect care to patients of all ages. carries out independent, thorough polysomnographic analysis. uses therapeutic oxygen therapy, ventilatory support, and monitoring equipment, both minimally invasive and invasive. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, provides documentation, takes part in patient education, and evaluates treatment response. offers clinical patient care and instruction to make sleep disorder diagnosis easier. Performs in a way that is compatible with the Medical Center's vision, mission, and strategic plan. demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice, and treats coworkers, patients, families, and all other members of the healthcare team with respect. Remains adaptable to changing systems.

 

Essential Functions:

– Completes and verifies documentation.
– Fits PAP (positive airway pressure) masks on a regular basis.
– Analyze information gleaned from respiratory measuring tools.
– Takes blood samples for testing in the lab, such as arterial or capillary blood gases.
– Offers cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an emergency.
Maintains patency of the airways.
– Exhibits the knowledge and abilities required to identify and deliver age-specific care.
– Helps with the upkeep, cleaning, and repair of equipment.
– Conducts inventory review and routine and sophisticated equipment maintenance.
– Uses effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with patients or other members of the healthcare team. when interacting with personnel and patients, exhibits tact and courtesy.
– 10 CEUs must be completed annually in addition to those needed for license renewal.

– Actively participates in department-scheduled staff meetings and educational initiatives.
– Promotes, guarantees, and enhances customer service to internal and external clients by displaying abilities that are consistent with the company's guiding principle of delivering exceptional customer relations and high-quality services.
– Adheres to applicable safety and infection control laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• One (1) year of work of experience in sleep lab or with six (6) months of experience and credentialed if hired as a trainee.

• Must type 20 WPM and have computer skills. Typing must be current within one (1) year. Please contact Human Resources for testing.

• Familiar with Microsoft office suite and electronic medical records.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited educational program with an associate's science degree in respiratory care.

License, Certification, Registration

• Associate's degree in respiratory care.

• Current BLS card.

• Current California licensed respiratory care practitioner.

• Registered RRT by NBRC.

• Current SDS by NBRC or Current RPSGT by BRPT or if trainee must complete by 6 months from date of hire. Registered RRT by the NBRC. Current BCLS by the American Heart Association.

• Current RPSGT by Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or SDS (Sleep Disordered Specialist) from the NBRC.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One (1) year of work experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
