Description:
Plans surgery schedules for patients under direct supervision. Preparing pre-operative forms, scheduling pre-operative exams, scheduling surgery (inpatient and outpatient) admissions, creating various statistical reports, and organizing the scheduling of courtesy surgeons are only a few of the responsibilities.
Essential Purposes
– Upholds KP's policies and procedures, the company's guiding principles, and all relevant local, state, and federal laws.
– Handles and/or schedules all requests for surgery scheduling.
– Plans and coordinates all pre-operative appointments.
– Compiles statistics about surgical services
– Tracks the use of surgical service blocks
– Interacts with and helps patients and their families in person and over the phone by answering questions and scheduling procedures and auxiliary activities, such as preoperative exams, tests, and the completion of necessary forms.
– Occasionally take on additional tasks and duties as directed

Basic Qualifications:
– Two (2) years previous medical office or clinic experience scheduling patients for pre-surgery work ups and/or surgery appointments
– Knowledge of & experience w/ pre-operative test requests & screening procedures
– Completion of a Medical Terminology course offered by an accredited educational institution
– Typing 25 wpm or as required by facility
– Ability to utilize communications skills effectively w/ physicians, clinic & hospital staff & patients
