Job Summary:

The Surgical Scrub Tech II is responsible for helping to prepare the OR, scrubbing with the surgeon, and assisting with surgical procedures and GI under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor.

Significant Duties:

All new technicians receive preceptor training on new machinery and patient care procedures. aids in the continual process of providing patients with healthcare that takes their age and developmental needs into account.

provides technical expertise for operating surgical equipment safely and effectively while assisting the surgeon. These services include, but are not restricted to:

Pre-Surgery: Set up sterile supplies, surgical tools, and equipment, and ensure that everything is in working order. Patient is made surgically ready by shaving, bathing, and sanitizing the surgical site. helps position patients on the surgical table and assists with patient transfer to the operating room.

Pass instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon and surgical assistant during the procedure. keeps track of supplies such as sponges, needles, and tools.

Postop: Assist in moving patients to a healing space. Getting equipment ready for sterilization The operation room should be cleaned and restocked with supplies. gets ready for the next case in the operation room.

Every year, provide at least one training in-service.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience scrubbing in an OR setting.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Graduation from a recognized Surgical Technologist Program required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Surgical Technologist Certificate within 12 months of hire

  • Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association
