Description:
Based on experience and RCEP accreditation, performs various types of exercise stress testing under proper supervision. Assesses patients in need of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services and makes suitable recommendations, such as physical activity, instruction, and counseling. For patients with chronic diseases and conditions for which exercise has proven to be therapeutically beneficial, conduct exercise evaluations, offer patient education, and produce individualized exercise prescriptions. makes a follow-up strategy and, if necessary, talks with medical professionals, midlevel providers, and other multidisciplinary team members.
Essential Purposes
• Crafts individualized exercise regimens that are suitable for patients with chronic illnesses, such as those related to the heart, lungs, blood vessels, metabolism, cancer, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, immunologic, and hematologic diseases, as well as chronic pain and fatigue; creates home workout plans for patients that may involve follow-up visits via email, phone, or office.
• Helps in the review of referrals for exercise stress tests.
• Conducts cardiopulmonary stress testing, exercise testing, pharmacological stress testing, stress echocardiography testing, and gives initial interpretation of advanced 12 lead ECG, dysrhythmia, and cardiopulmonary outcomes.
• Informs the patient of the preliminary and/or final results of the stress test. uses medical professionals as a resource to analyze the outcomes of stress tests.
• Develops a personalized plan/education for the patient that addresses any additional clinic needs and includes recommendations for follow-up and modifications to/reductions in cardiac risk factors.
• Informs physicians and mid-level healthcare professionals of the patient's progress and works on-call with an MD or NP to create a follow-up plan for the patient.
• Informs doctors or other healthcare professionals about the problem(s) a patient is having; follows up as directed by doctors or other healthcare professionals; or assesses and manages a treatment plan for the patient; and records all issues or related occurrences.
• Responds to inquiries about exercise, preventive testing, cardiac rehabilitation, nutrition, and other services as necessary for the job. refers to alternate multidisciplinary specialists or resources, such as a dietitian or a behavioral health specialist.
• Examining medical records and interviewing patients while using evaluation techniques ensures the suitability of the test being administered.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
A minimum twelve (12) months of recent work experience in one of the following areas: cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, exercise stress testing, or other work as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Work experience must be within the last year.
Education
• Master's degree in exercise physiology or exercise science.License, Certification, Registration• Must either hold a certification as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine or obtain within six (6) months of employment. Current ACLS and BLS certification required at time of employment. All certifications must be actively maintained during employment in this position.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire.
Additional Requirements:
• Must possess knowledge of:
• Of commonly used medications for multiple chronic diseases/conditions (emphasis on cardiovascular medications) and effect on exercise.
• Exercise physiology, functional anatomy, and pathophysiology of multiple organ systems (with emphasis on cardiovascular and pulmonary systems) is necessary.
• Knowledge of proper exercise techniques to facilitate a reduction in chronic disease risk, and increase health, strength and endurance is essential. Required skills include, Customer service oriented, proficiency with basic computer skills, strong critical thinking, organization and clear concise communication. Works independently in a highly accountable role.
