General Maintenance Worker I
Essential Purposes
– Builds, fabricates, installs, maintains, or repairs non-contracted machinery, buildings, or other organizational facilities. ensures proper and effective use and functioning. uses a variety of skills (e.g., plumbing, mechanical pipefitting, welding, painting, electrical, sheet metal and masonry).
– Keeps the records, data, and information required for circumstances involving work done, maintenance, repair, or preventative maintenance.
– Works closely with delegated subordinates on a range of assignments.
– Assists in teaching other general maintenance personnel how to repair, inspect, test, maintain, and operate equipment in order to increase performance and proficiency.
– Adheres to departmental safety policies and procedures, including using safety gear (e.g. head, shoe and body cover, gloves, shield, respirator and proper tools). ethylene oxide tanks and other medical gases are changed. checking for gas leaks is done both during tank changes and on an ongoing basis.
– Exhibits the knowledge, talents, and skills required to deliver care and/or services that are sensitive to cultural differences.
– Completes additional tasks and takes on responsibilities as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
– Two (2) years general maintenance or related experience.
Education
– Post high school coursework at trade school; or equivalent combination of education (lesser)&experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.
License, Certification, Registration
– Valid driver's license.
Additional Requirements:
– Demonstrated skill in one trade craft.
– Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, customer service, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork, and written communication.
– Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone.
– Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.
– Training/giving and receiving instructions.
– Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration and alertness.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Associate's degree in technical field.
