How to Apply to UFS online 2023-2024
How to Apply to UFS online 2023-2024
To be a student at the University of the Free State, you need to have done the following:
• apply for two study options –
if one option is a selection program, we suggest selecting a non-selection program as the second option due to capacity constraints;
• be finally admitted with your final Grade 12 NSC or IEB results;
pay the prescribed first payment of five (5) working days prior to registration;
and
• register in 2023 before classes start
You can realize your ambition of attending a university where we improve lives and inspire brilliance in just seven simple steps.
- Apply online. Visit https://apply.ufs.ac.za
- Your application has been received. You will get a student ID and an application acknowledgment.
In order to complete your application, you will be asked to provide the necessary documentation. - The university evaluates your application. If your evaluation is favorable, you will be given a conditional offer to enroll in school, SUBJECT TO SPACE AVAILABILITY. Programs for selection are not included. You will also get contact from Housing and Residence Affairs if you specified in your application that you need on-campus housing. Please take note that acceptance does not guarantee that you will qualify for your desired program.
- You need to source and secure financial support for your studies
- All applications will be reviewed again when the official Grade 12 results are announced in January 2022; if your evaluation is favorable, you will be extended a final offer. Keep in mind that entrance to your desired program is not guaranteed even if you achieve the minimum admission standards.
- Within the allotted time, you must finish the offer's online acceptance process. The offer will be revoked and you will forfeit your space if you don't finish the acceptance procedure before the deadline. Remember that there are only a few available spots.
- Before registering, make the required first payment. After moving into your assigned house on campus or into off-campus housing, you can begin your academic activities, such as orientation, academic counseling, and registration.
For degree studies at the University of the Free State, we expect that:
• You hold an NSC, NCV, or comparable credential with an endorsement allowing entry to degree-level study (Bachelor's degree);
• You satisfy all minimal entrance requirements for the program you wish to enroll in. Because there are only a few spots available in each program, meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission;
• you have at least a level 4 (50%) in either English as a First Language or English as a Second Language;
• To enroll in a certain university module, you must pass a particular set of school subjects with a specific level of proficiency. For instance, if you want to major in physics and take engineering courses in college, you must receive a grade of 70% in mathematics in grade 12. Please see the section on the faculty-specific admission requirements, which also lists the relevant mandatory subjects and accomplishment levels needed for each program.
