Description:
Offers services for adult and/or child members who submit themselves for psychiatric examination with a wide range of mental health needs for mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention. Plans and oversees the treatment programs for each individual member in collaboration with the treating physician, the psychiatric team, and the allied health professionals.

Significant Duties:

creates, develops, coordinates, and evaluates clinical treatment plans for the diagnosis, administration of care, and/or referral of Health Plan members suffering from mental illness, whether it be acute or chronic.

takes part in staff meetings to choose, organize, and assess treatment programs.

offers solo, couple, family, and group therapy in an outpatient setting.

within the scope of practice, instructs and counsels patients and their families on how to follow prescribed therapy regimens and pharmaceutical regimens. Licensed Practical Nurse

may perform specific treatment procedures as necessary.

gives family members the proper support. may create and lead psychoeducational groups and classes.

creates treatment plans, case summaries, and intake summaries and keeps ongoing, private records. Tracks the treatment and development of members in line with state and NCQA requirements and generally accepted community norms.

Participation in the department's on-call rotation can be necessary.

collaborates with doctors to determine whether patients should take psychotropic drugs while acting within the parameters of their profession.

utilizes community groups, governmental and private organizations, and resources to suit the demands of the member's treatment.

Programs in behavioral medicine and health psychology may be developed, put into practice, and evaluated in a range of contexts, including primary care.

offers advice to other healthcare professionals and health educators on issues pertaining to behavioral medicine, health psychology, and mental health.

If a supervisory course has been successfully completed, the supervisor may supervise Post Masters Fellows, Associate Clinical Social Workers, Associate Marriage Family Therapists, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselors as needed.

Upon request, may offer the right kind of assistance to the member's family, including explanations of the therapy, guidelines for how to support the treatment, and interventions to improve acceptance and adherence to the treatment.

Utilizes community resources, public and private agencies, and organizations to meet the needs of the member's treatment, including, when necessary, directing the member and/or the member's family to outside sources.

participates in the creation, execution, and assessment of departmental programs.

Basic Qualifications: 
Experience
  • N/A
Education
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Social Welfare from a clinical track, Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field required from an accredited college or university. Licensed Practical Nurse
License, Certification, Registration
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California)

OR

  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) AND Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Couples and Families Endorsement (California) within 24 months of hire

OR

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California)

 

Additional Requirements:
  • Has experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with DSM-V as a means of diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as is related to member treatment, patient rights, and member/patient confidentiality.
  • May be required to participate in the department on-call rotation.
  • Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice and psychotherapy research methods.
  • Knowledge of the bio-psycho-social functions that contribute to mental health.
  • Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans.
  • Competence in individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
  • Professional maturity and ethical integrity are necessary for assuming professional responsibilities.
  • Commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous post license, experience as a member of a psychiatric treatment team in an outpatient or inpatient setting/program under licensed supervision.
  • Previous clinical responsibility includes crisis intervention, and individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Demonstrated professional maturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming professional responsibilities, preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner, preferred.
  • Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans is preferred.
  • Competence in individual, family, and group psychotherapy, is preferred.
