Job Summary:

Performs a range of fundamental and routine administrative and patient care tasks under direct supervision to support medical professionals in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients. The primary duties are to accommodate provider schedules and room patients. Focuses actions primarily on members'/patients' needs; builds and maintains effective member/patient connections. actively searches out information to comprehend the situations, issues, requirements, and concerns of members and patients. develops a friendly and cooperative interaction with patients and members. Takes into account how decisions or plans will affect the members; acts fast to address a member or patient requirements and find solutions to issues.

 

Significant Duties:

-All Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency rules and procedures are known to this position, and it complies with them. Shows excellence and efficacy in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with clients, coworkers, medical professionals, and upper management. ensures patient safety in the planning and delivery of care involving, but not limited to, medications, including the regular application of 5 rights and 3 checks of medication administration, procedures, infection prevention, and fall prevention, including the regular application of 2 patient identifiers. swiftly notifies authorities of safety risks, mishaps, and harmful working circumstances.

-Uses the proper tools, techniques, and specimen labeling process to carry out the proper basic, routine, and regular delegated medical functions as instructed and within the proper scope of practice as implied by knowledge, skill level, and KP guidelines (such as vision screening, ear irrigations, hearing tests, hematocrit, tonometry measurements, EKG tests, collecting throat, wound, and sputum specimens, and urine cultures).

-Assists patients during operations and provides necessary materials and equipment to support doctors and other healthcare professionals in completing standard examination and treatment procedures.

-Carries out standard administrative and front-desk tasks as needed, including filling up patient visit records, keeping track of departmental logs, taking messages, checking patients in, and arranging appointments.

-In order to determine the patient visit order, the nurse reviews and relays the physician and other medical providers' appointment schedules. She also asks for any special instructions or requests for the day, and then respectfully welcomes and escorts the patient to the examination or treatment room. informs patients, physicians, or other healthcare professionals, as well as other team members, of their status and/or any delays throughout the day.

-Interviews the patient to determine the reason for the visit; takes the patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height, and weight; records the information in the patient's medical record; and, in accordance with standard requirements, reports the findings to the appropriate personnel.

-Kindly and compassionately instructs or helps patients get ready for scheduled procedures. As required, takes patients to various patient care locations and gives them basic verbal and written instructions for things like using crutches, cast care, and wound care.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program of at least six (6) months in duration for the Medical Assistant. Copy of diploma and transcripts from program required.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
