Description:

The Security Officer, who works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Security Manager, assesses safety, security, and crime threats in and around Kaiser facilities and takes the necessary steps to eliminate or lessen them. All patients, guests, and staff are given assistance by the security officer.

 

Essential Functions:

-In order to identify and prevent crimes, security breaches, and harmful circumstances, it is essential to regularly patrol and inspect the facilities and grounds. Report any relevant crimes, incidents, or lost and found items.
– Interact with members, patients, visitors, and employees in a way that reflects age-appropriate security.
– Protect patients, guests, and staff who are in danger or who have received threats, and take appropriate action when necessary to lessen or diffuse potentially violent situations.
– Be prepared to stand by when required in order to keep patients, visitors, or anyone else from posing a threat to themselves or others. to aid the medical professionals in detaining and regulating these people as required.
– Offer personal escorts, hands-on support, authorized car assistance, and information to patients, guests, and staff.  Assist in the transfer and control of cash, payroll and drugs.

– Regulates access to designated locations as determined by the Assistant Security Manager, Division Security Manager, or Administrator. Lock and unlock buildings routinely and extra when directed by employees.
– maintains and watches over two-way radio and closed-circuit television security systems.
– Take necessary action in response to burglary or fire alarms. When there is an emergency, coordinate security and safety measures. Set alarm systems to “off” and “on.” Contact the alarm monitoring company regularly and coordinate alarm information with them.

– At the Medical Center or other medical facilities, manage traffic flow in specific locations and enforce parking rules as necessary.
-Under the supervision of the Assistant Security Manager, the Designated Shift Lead Officer will oversee and manage the various responsibilities of the security personnel assigned to the shift as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

– Minimum two (2) years of recent experience in military, law enforcement, security& safety, or equivalent.

Education

– High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

– Current and valid Oregon or Washington drivers license required at time of hire/transfer.

– Current State of Oregon Board on Public Safety Standards and Training Security Officer Certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer.

 

Additional Requirements:

– Working knowledge of Oregon Criminal Statutes.

– Working knowledge of safety and security guidelines, security procedures and Division policies and procedures.

– FM Radio Operation.

– Familiar with 10 code procedures.

– Crisis Intervention skills.

– Computer keyboard operation.

– Good verbal and written communication skills.

– Must be able to perform physical duties associated with this position.
