Pharmacy Technician
Significant Duties:
The typing new prescriptions, processing refill prescriptions and entering other prescription data into the computer, counting and pouring medications from stock bottles, entering information about chronic conditions, prepackaging and labeling medications, stocking shelves, filing prescriptions, performing inventory tasks, releasing refill medications and OTC products to patients; taking care of telephonic interactions that are not professional, such as patient refill requests and prescription refill authorizations; Calling prescribers to get permission for refills; routing calls to the right party. working familiarity and competence with cashiering techniques. compliance with the Cash Security and Compliance criteria of Kaiser Permanente.
Ensures that drug therapy is administered in a timely and appropriate manner by reading, translating, and filling prescription orders with the necessary medication; confirming if the numbers match the sig and are accurate; based on the patient's weight, precisely determining the dosages
identifies opportunities to prevent unusual occurrences, consistently performs safety checks when dispensing medications, takes the proper action to resolve and report unusual occurrences, and adheres to standard procedures for welcoming patients and providing excellent customer service in order to ensure patient safety. providing service recovery when necessary and in accordance with the right procedures.
By staying up to date on clinical efforts and priorities, maintaining current with daily responsibilities, and recognizing specific problems and bringing them to the attention of a pharmacist, one shows commitment to evidence-based medicine (such as high-risk meds, glucose strips, preferred drugs)
follows Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures, and protocols when administering the various pharmaceutical formularies. maintains and makes use of current knowledge of medical terminology and fundamental medication information when executing duties.

- Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program, or equivalent, in order to obtain Department of Health Pharmacy Technician Certification is required by date of hire/transfer.
- Pharmacy Technician License (Washington) required at hire
- Ability to use available resources and tools efficiently and effectively.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy law and its standards of practice.
- Skill in compounding extemporaneous entities.
- Ability to identify specified issues and bring to the attention of the pharmacist.
- Problem-solving skills to work with patients and other health care providers.
- Verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations, identify drug names, and have knowledge of most common uses for pharmaceuticals.
- One (1) plus year of Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Two (2) plus years of IV experience.
- Two (2) plus years of warehouse experience.
- Ability to use available resources and tools efficiently and effectively.
- The ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations, identify drug names and have knowledge of the most common uses for pharmaceuticals.
- Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program.
