Significant Duties:
For areas of responsibility, plan, administer, organize, and offer direct oversight. Organize departmental workflow. Compliance with policies and procedures is monitored and maintained. Engage in activities sponsored by the Labor Management Partnership. Pre-analytical procedures should be carried out as necessary to guarantee prompt and suitable patient treatment. As required, offer guidance and support to other Laboratory sections to uphold the standard of care and services. operate as a point of contact between the laboratory and the inpatient and/or outpatient clinical departments, serving as a resource to share knowledge, address customer service issues, and respond to queries or concerns from patients, clinicians, and employees. Keep the lines of communication open between the laboratory's management and other workers, including the pre-analytical team. Promote and uphold knowledge of organizational business strategies, and take part in completing tasks and objectives.
Staff in the laboratory are chosen after an interview process. Coaching, performance evaluation, and accomplishment recognition. Start, carry out, and record the necessary training and education. In compliance with local, state, and federal laws, EEO standards, and organizational policies, counsel, take corrective action, and fire employees. Determine staffing needs and plan accordingly. By allocating tasks, giving projects, and offering educational opportunities, you can give your staff members development possibilities. Help the staff develop a sense of unity. Together with the Phlebotomy Trainer and Pre-analytical Technical Specialist, create and manage an on-site pre-analytical training and orientation program for new workers, phlebotomy program students, and MLT/MT program students (s). in the Laboratory and another
Regional computer/information systems, oversee the training of new and existing workers.
Maintain adherence to all licensing and regulatory requirements for laboratories that relate to the allocated areas of responsibility (e.g. CAP, CLIA, and JCAHO). keep up-to-date instruction manuals. Examine and update policy and procedure manuals frequently and as needed. current staff on any new guidelines and regulations.
To efficiently meet service requirements for areas of responsibility, keep an eye on workload and adapt staffing and workflow patterns. Ensure that equipment is properly maintained, serviced and that backup mechanisms are in place.
Participate in the creation and management of the department budget. Keep an eye on financial reports and take action to explain or fix deviations. Control the ordering of materials and supplies to ensure that there is a sufficient supply on hand to provide uninterrupted service for the locations under your control. carries out additional tasks as required.
- Minimum two (2) years of phlebotomy or LTA experience in a multi-patient setting.
- Minimum two (2) years in a supervisory or leadership role in the laboratory or other applicable healthcare setting OR four (4) years in direct management or supervisory role in a non-healthcare setting.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
- Driver's License (in a location where applicable)
- Working knowledge of phlebotomy principles/practice lab specimen collection, processing and handling requirements.
- Basic knowledge of computer operation.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Verbal and written command of the English language.
- Proven skills in multi-techniques in phlebotomy.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and to work independently.
- Minimum three (3) years of phlebotomy experience in busy multi-patient setting including use of multi-techniques and experience with patients of all ages.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory and/or teaching experience.
- Medical Terminology.
- Training in basic principles of supervision.
- Thorough knowledge of phlebotomy and pre-analytical specimen preparation principles.
- General knowledge of Kaiser Permanentes Human Resource policies.
- Proven expert skills in phlebotomy practices.
- Computer skills.
