Plan, direct, and oversee phlebotomy services and other pre-analytical tasks. Give technical guidance and instruction in the designated areas of responsibility, and aid in the management of the Laboratory's overall activities.

As required, offer guidance and support to other Laboratory sections to uphold the standard of care and services. operate as a point of contact between the laboratory and the inpatient and/or outpatient clinical departments, serving as a resource to share knowledge, address customer service issues, and respond to queries or concerns from patients, clinicians, and employees. Keep the lines of communication open between the laboratory's management and other workers, including the pre-analytical team. Promote and uphold knowledge of organizational business strategies, and take part in completing tasks and objectives.

Maintain adherence to all licensing and regulatory requirements for laboratories that relate to the allocated areas of responsibility (e.g. CAP, CLIA, and JCAHO). keep up-to-date instruction manuals. To efficiently meet service requirements for areas of responsibility, keep an eye on workload and adapt staffing and workflow patterns. Ensure that equipment is properly maintained, serviced and that backup mechanisms are in place.

Participate in the creation and management of the department budget. Keep an eye on financial reports and take action to explain or fix deviations.
