Consult the surgeon about each specimen. Samples should be handed off to the circulator before the case is finished, or earlier if the surgeon so directs.
Places all instruments in a cart to be returned to SPD or takes them to the workroom for cleaning.

- One (1) year of the operating room or military equivalent experience in a scrub role within the last two years or recent completion of the operating room training program.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
- N/A
- CPR required.
- Newly hired surgical technicians will be required to become certified within six (6) months of hire.
- Ability to scrub all types of surgical cases except open heart.
- Prior experience as First Assistant preferred.
Notes:
- 10-hr shift position 0800-1830. Back-up 8-hr is 1000-1830.
- Rotating workday off.
- May rotate to SAM or OTM to help with staffing needs.
