Significant Duties:
oversees the patient care operations on the weekend and after hours. Ensures that staff members are in conformity with the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and standards for the highest standard of care.
maintains appropriate personnel numbers and a talent mix while coordinating and overseeing staffing for all shifts.
Develops, reviews, and updates departmental policies and procedures with others.
identifies and puts into implementation best practices to deliver better care and services.
For the best possible patient care, evaluate and monitor clinical nursing practice.
Creates and assesses procedures to enhance systems and patient care outcomes throughout the continuum.
Continually monitors all clinical concerns.
checks the level of care being given to patients to make sure it satisfies their developmental and aging needs.
oversees employees, determines their needs, and locates educational options.
collaborates across all divisions of the medical center.
represents patients' interests.
helps to create, monitor, and maintain the budget.
finds and suggests options for cost-cutting.
manages and resolves issues with risk management, employee and department safety, and human resources.

- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion or other related leadership experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Basic Life Support
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Evidence of training completion as preceptor or charge nurse.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, & budgeting.
- Knowledge of the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission & other federal, state, & local regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Minimum one (1) year of critical care or emergency department nursing experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
