About UFS Online admissions requirements 2023-2024

You should have an NSC or NCV with an endorsement that allows entrance to degree studies (Bachelor’s degree) or an equivalent qualification;

• You must meet all the minimum admission requirements for the program you intend to study.

Meeting the minimum admission requirements for your chosen/intended program of study does not guarantee admission, as limited spaces are available in each program;

• You have an English Home Language or English First Additional Language proficiency score of at least 4 (50%);

• To enroll in a certain university module, you must pass a particular set of school subjects with a specific level of proficiency.

For instance, if you want to major in physics and take engineering courses in college, you must receive a grade of 70% in mathematics in grade 12.

Please refer to the section on the faculty-specific entrance criteria, which also covers the appropriate mandatory subjects and accomplishment levels needed for each program.

 

Below are some of the documents you need.

• You will need an email address to complete the application.
• South African applicants will need an ID number.  Foreign applicants will need their passport numbers.
• Once you receive your student number from UFS, you will need to pay the application fee.
• Make UFSre your documents are scanned according to the directives.

Make a Copy of these Useful Documents

• Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
• Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
• Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
• Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
• Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

 

IMPORTANT NOTICES

While there are only a certain number of spots available in each program, meeting the minimum entrance requirements does not ensure selection and admission.

The admission process begins with the applicants with the highest AP scores and continues until all openings have been filled. You won't be chosen if you don't fulfill the minimum admission requirements for the program of study you intend to pursue. Check the faculty-specific admission standards for each of the programs you are eligible for, then apply to the two that most closely match your interests, goals, and personality.

Subject to you completing all eligibility conditions for the desired program of study, you will be CONDITIONALLY ADMITTED based on your Grade 11 or comparable results.

Your final Grade 12 results will determine your FINAL ADMISSION to the program of your choosing. As soon as the Department of Education releases your Grade 12 result results, you will be informed of the university's decision to admit you. As a result, it is your duty to ensure that your application form's contact information is accurate.
